Media Literacy Workshop-Sungurlu

In the workshops held on April 1, 2026, not only the opportunities offered by the digital world but also the risks associated with these platforms and strategies for their proper use were examined in depth.

The key topics highlighted during the workshops were as follows:

The Illusion of Technological Expertise and Conscious Consumption
Attention was drawn to the difference between the technological skills of the "digital generation" (Gen D), who are born into the digital world, and true media literacy. Students were encouraged to move beyond being passive content consumers and become “conscious curators” and creators who can analyze digital content.

Algorithms and Data Security
The strategies used by social media platforms to keep users engaged, the functioning of algorithms, and the transformation of personal data into a commercial commodity were discussed. In this ad-revenue-driven system, ways to maintain attention and develop awareness against manipulation were explained.

Disinformation and the Loss of “Reality”
The impact of advanced technologies such as face swap on the perception of reality, as well as the rapid spread of fake news in digital environments, were examined. Methods of protection against disinformation and the long-term effects of digital privacy were illustrated through the concept of a “digital footprint.”

A More Valuable Identity than a CV: Digital Prestige
In the final part of the workshop, the importance of building a digital identity that creates value and has professional relevance—rather than merely seeking “likes” on social media—was emphasized. It was highlighted that today, a strong digital identity can be a more effective reference than a traditional CV.

This valuable event was organized to help young people take safer and more informed steps in the digital world.
